Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard Men's Soccer team (6-8-2, 2-6-1 SAC) fell in the final minute of the first overtime period to Newberry College (4-9-1, 2-6-1 SAC) in Wednesday night's conference match-up.
In the 99th minute of the game, Fabrizio Bucco would break away from the defense to go one-on-one with Brevard's goalie. Bucco would win the battle, as he sent a shot to the far right post for the only goal of the match.
Brevard's offense would be solid tonight, as the Tornados out-shot the Wolves 24-12. The Tornados were led by midfielder, Gabriel Garcia (Vinhedo, Brazil) who would finish the match with seven shots, two of them being on-goal. Seniors Ryan McPhillips (Glasgow, Scotland) and Gabriel Pastrana (Concord, N.C.) would end the day with three shots. Pastrana, Brock Tuttle (Harrisburg, N.C.) and Alex Gerondidakis (Merritt Island, Fla.) would each record a shot on-goal for the Tornados.
The Wolves were led by Davis Bryan, who finished the day with three shot attempts. Goal keeper, Brad Dixon would earn the win as he recorded five saves during the match.
The Tornados' senior goal keeper, Heath Turner (Kansas City, Mo.) would end the day with five saves as well.
Brevard will look for a win on Saturday, October 22nd as they take on the Eagles of Carson-Newman University for a match beginning at 7:30 pm. Saturday is also senior day at Brevard. The Tornados will be celebrating eleven seniors prior to the game.
