MARS HILL, N.C. - Brevard College's softball team found 10 hits from its third and fourth batter plus another dominant outing in the circle from Jamie Hrobak in a 9-6, 11-3 sweep of Mars Hill. With the victories, Brevard improves to 16-29 overall and 5-11 in South Atlantic Conference play.

Kinsey Parrish and Paige Atkison had nearly identical stat lines in the doubleheader, both going 5-7 at the plate with two home runs and six runs batted in. Parrish blasted both of hers in the opening game while Atkison hit one in both contests.

Hrobak went the distance in both contests to increase her win total this season to 14. In the second game of the doubleheader, the senior retired 13-consecutive Mars Hill (13-21, 5-11 SAC) from the third to seventh frame.

Brevard took control of the first game in the sixth inning, as the Tornados scored four runs in the stanza. With two outs and no one on base, Kinny Davis kept the frame open with a single and a stolen base during Lauren Parker's at bat. Parker reached base on a fielding error that allowed Davis to score the go ahead run and open the floodgates. Parrish drew a base on balls in the ensuing at bat, putting another runner on base for Atkison's home run.

The two sides went blow-for-blow in the opening five rounds, as Mars Hill responded to each of Brevard's initial attacks. The bulk of the Tornados' damage came from Parrish, who blasted homers in the third and fifth inning.

Hrobak ended game one with six runs off nine hits with six strikeouts.

In the sequel, Hrobak allowed three runs in the opening two innings before retiring thirteen straight batters that went into the seventh inning.

MHU got its early lead off a RBI bunt and a sac fly. Brevard quickly responded in the second inning with four runs, with Ricki Kuhn bringing the first runner home for Brevard on a sacrifice fly. Brittan Miller continued the frame with her first of three RBIs in the contest, this one coming off a single, before a single from Kinny brought two more Tornados around the bases.

Mars Hill chipped into the royal blue and white's lead with a run in the bottom of the frame, but a home run from Atkison in the third extended Brevard's lead.

SAC play continues for the Tornados on Saturday, April 16 when they take on Coker for a road doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m.
