BREVARD, N.C. - Guards Shelby Parris (Burlington, N.J.), Stevie Williams (High Point, N.C.) and JaMarquis Johnson (Minneola, Fla.) finish with double-digit point totals as the Brevard College Tornados (2-19, 0-15 SAC) fall by a final of 90-58 to the No. 24 Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters.
Parris led Brevard with 17 points on 7-11 shooting from the floor, adding three rebounds and two steals for the game. While Williams finished with 14 points, four rebounds and two assists and Johnson added 13 points and a team-high five rebounds off the bench.
Lincoln Memorial's Chris Perry finished with a game-high 31 points on 12-13 shooting, adding 10 rebounds for a double-double, while Luquon Choice also posted a double-double for the Railsplitters finishing with 23 points, 10 rebounds and a game-high five assists.
Following a Choice three-point to start the game for LMU, Trevon Shaw would add two free throws to give the blue and grey a 5-0 lead, before Williams sunk a highly contested layup to put the Tornados on the board.
The Railsplitters added back-to-back layups to extend their lead to 9-2, before senior Omar El Diraoui (Beirut, Lebanon) connected from three-point range to trim the LMU lead. Brevard would add another three-point basket by Parris just under a minute later to cut the Lincoln Memorial lead to 14-8.
Lincoln Memorial would extend their lead to 11-points with just over 10 minutes remaining in the first half, but the resilient Tornados would cut the lead back to six points on baskets by Johnson, Williams and Parris.
However, the Railsplitters would close out the half on a 17-4 run to take a 45-22 lead into the 15-minute intermission.
Coming out of the break, LMU managed to extend their lead to 28 points, but true to pattern the Tornados managed to chip away at the lead, eventually getting the deficit to 21 points at 59-38, as Johnson connected on a three-point basket with 11:20 remaining in regulation.
Lincoln Memorial would close out the final 11 minutes of play with a 31-20 advantage, taking a 90-58 win over the Tornados.
Brevard will return to action this coming weekend, Feb. 4 as they travel to travel to Charlotte, N.C. to face off with conference front-runner and national top-10 opponent the Queens Royals, with tip-off set to get under way at 4 p.m. following women's action.
