Tornados drop season finale 102-60 to Wolves

NEWBERRY, S.C. - Juniors Stevie Williams (High Point, N.C.) and Shelby Williams (Burlington, N.J.) and senior Omar El Diraoui (Beirut, Lebanon) finished with double-digit points as the Brevard College Tornados (2-26, 0-22 SAC) dropped the season finale by a final of 102-60 to the Newberry College Wolves (18-10, 13-9 SAC).

Williams and El Diraoui finished tied for the team-high with 14 points, while Parris added 12 on the afternoon. Both Parris and El Diraoui finished just shy of double-double status as the Beirut, Lebanon native, El Diraoui pulled down a game-high nine boards, while Parris collected eight.

Senior Harry Singh (Hanover Park, Ill.) capped of his Tornados career with four rebounds and a team-high three rebounds, while junior D.J. Bostick (Marietta, Ga.) posted three steals for the game.

For the Wolves, James Stepp walked away with a game-high 18 points, while four other Newberry players recorded double-digit point totals for the game. D.J. Copeland finished with a game-high seven assists, while Gerald Evans recorded a game-high seven steals.

Brevard would open the game on a 14-4 run, as El Diraoui sunk a three-pointer on the Tornados first possession, while Parris connected for three on Brevard's third possession of the game.

Newberry would battle back to tie the game at 21-21 with 7:35 remaining in the first half, as the Wolves would close out the opening stanza on a 22-7 run to control a 43-28 lead heading into the break.

Coming out of the break, the Wolves would increase their lead to 44 points as Brevard was unable to over 11 Newberry second half three-pointers as the Newberry, S.C. native shot nearly 55 percent from behind the three-point arc for the half.

Following Saturday's game, the Tornados said goodbye to both El Diraoui and Singh who both played in their final game as members of the Brevard basketball program.
