Tornados Post Results at Highly Competitive Electric City Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Brevard College men's and women's Track & Field teams competed at the recent Electric City Invitational held April 14-15 on the campus of Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina.  Several Tornados posted results in a variety of events at the highly competitive event that featured 25 men's and 26 women's teams.

Brevard College junior Zoe Capps earned a third-place podium finish in the Women's 10,000 meters as the top finishing Tornado at the event.  Capps, a native of Hendersonville, North Carolina, ran a time of 41:21.38 in the distance race to secure the finish.

In the men's 1500 meters, junior Dalton Hawley ran a 4:11.98 to finish 17th.  Junior Devon Brodmyer placed 29th in the same event with a time of 4:19.32.

On the women's side in the 1500 meters, sophomore Sandra Diaz-Martinez placed 36th with a time of 5:16.81.  Diaz-Martinez also raced in the Women's 800 meters where she finished 37th.

Sophomore Haylea-Layne Miller finished 24th (1:03.40) in the Women's 400 meters to go along with an identical 24th place result in the 100-meter hurdles.

In men's sprints, freshman Reginald Taylor II was the top-performing Tornado with a 24th-place result (11:07) in the Men's 100 meters.  In hurdles, freshman Jaxsen Wilkerson earned an 11th-place result in the 110-meter Men's Hurdles.

Junior Isabell Musser was the top-performing thrower for Brevard with 12th-place finishes in both the Women's Discus (31.16 meters) and Women's Shot Put (10.64 meters). 

Freshman Noah Westbrook posted the top men's result in throws with a 20th-place throw of 11.73 meters in the shot put.  In jumps, Wilkerson was the top BC finisher with a long jump of 5.83 meters to finish 17th.

Next up, Brevard will host the USA South Conference Track & Field Championships on Thursday, April 27, and Friday, April 28 at the Frank Patton Track on the campus of Brevard College.
