MLAX Honors Seniors in Home Finale

BREVARD, N.C. - Brevard College men's lacrosse seniors Daelan Grady and Trystan Wallace were both honored in a special pre-game ceremony, as the Tornados (2-13, 0-8 USA South) hosted Southern Virginia University (7-7, 6-1 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field. 

The visiting Knights took a resounding 26-6 victory in USA South action in Brevard. 

Graduate attacker Parker Corbett and sophomore midfielder Finnegan McCormack each scored two goals and an assist. Gage Khayat and Andrew McDonald all scored goals as well. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Jack Hicks improved his recent stretch of strong performances with a 19-save outing for the Tornados. Will Scoggins grabbed a team-high six ground balls and won eight faceoffs, while Hicks added five ground balls. Hicks and Xavier Westbrook caused a pair of turnovers each as well. 

SVU's offensive onslaught was led by Gabe King, who scored 10 goals and dished out three assists for 13 points. Five different Knights scored multiple goals apiece. 

Southern Virginia outshot Brevard 71-24 and grabbed 57 ground balls to BC's 36. The Knights were successful on 14 of their 15 clear attempts and forced 23 Tornado turnovers. 

BC was able to get on the board first as Khayat scored in the first 30 seconds of action to give the hosts an early 1-0 lead. SVU was able to strike for seven-consecutive goals before McCormack finished a Corbett assist as Southern Virginia held a five-goal lead, 7-2. 

SVU scored three in the second period and capped off a 12-goal run by outscoring BC 9-0 in the third quarter. The Knights held a 7-4 scoring edge in the final period to close out the 26-6 victory.

BC will close out its season next Saturday, April 29 at 4 p.m. for the "Battle of Blue Ridge" vs. Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, North Carolina.
