ATLANTA, Ga. - The Brevard College women's soccer team makes its first-ever trip to the NCAA DIII Women's Soccer Championship Tournament, as the Tornados head to the campus of Emory University to face Rhodes College in the first round.
Site host no. 2 Emory will face off against Belhaven University on Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by the Tornados and Lynx at 3:30 p.m. The winners of each match will play for a spot in the third round on Sunday at 3 p.m.
The Tornados enter the NCAA postseason on a sensational 37-match unbeaten streak the second-longest active stretch in NCAA Division III women's soccer and the second-longest active streak across all divisions of NCAA women's soccer.
Following the program's second consecutive USA South Conference Regular Season Championship, Brevard extended its now 32-match home unbeaten streak that began on Oct. 18, 2022, with two victories and a draw in the 2025 USA South Conference Tournament as the top seed. BC claimed its first conference tournament crown of the NCAA era with a 5-4 result in penalty kicks against Southern Virginia.
For their combined results on the pitch throughout the conference tournament, a program-record seven BCWS student-athletes - Sophia DePasquale, Mikaela Edwards, Carissa Jenkins, Kinlee Mozley, Abby Nunez, Kiara Porcelli, and Mikayla Zvekan - were selected to the 2025 USA South Conference All-Tournament Team.
BC also earned three major awards and seven selections onto the USA South All-Conference Team for the second-consecutive season.
Mikayla Zvekan was selected as BC women's soccer's first-ever USA South Player of the Year, while goalkeeper Abby Nunez collected Goalkeeper of the Year honors for the second-straight season. Head Coach Juan Mascaro rounded out BC's major awards with his second-consecutive nod as Coach of the Year.
Zvekan and Nunez were placed on the All-Conference First Team, joined by Mikaela Edwards and Mikayla Rubin. Kinlee Mozley, Kiara Porcelli, and MK Smoak all earned All-Conference Second Team accolades, while Julia Needelman was selected as BC's representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Brevard closed out the regular season and conference postseason top-five in several team statistical categories, including goals-against average (second, 0.208), won-lost-tied percentage (second, 0.974), assists per game (second, 3.63), save percentage (second, 0.935), shots per game (third, 25.58), points per game (fourth, 11.53), and shutout percentage (fourth, 0.789).
Zvekan leads all of NCAA DIII with 11 game-winning goals, and is top-10 in several categories including total points (third, 51), points per game (third, 2.74), shots on goal per game (fourth, 3.37), total goals (fourth, 21), shots per game (fifth, 5.89), and goals per game (fifth, 1.11). Nunez is seventh and eighth respectively in goals against average (0.310) and save percentage (0.911), while Rubin is seventh in assists per game (0.65).
