BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard College senior sensation
Josie Hester was selected to the D3hoops All-Region 6 Second Team, capping off a stellar collegiate playing career for the Huntersville, North Carolina native. The selection marks BC's first All-Region honoree for women's basketball at the NCAA DIII level.
Hester was also named the USA South Conference Player of the Year, voted to the USA South All-Conference First Team, and won USA South Player of the Week twice in 2024-25. Overall in 2024-25, Hester led the USA South in scoring, averaging 16.1 points per game, with 5.1 rebounds, 1.9 steals, and 1.8 assists. She also led the league in 3-pointers made with 79, which is fifth in all of Division III, and shooting percentage from behind the arch (.436), ranked eighth in Division III. Against exclusively USA South foes, Hester upped her scoring average to a USA South-best 17.6 points per contest while knocking down an average of 3.6 shots from beyond the arc.
The second-year Tornado sharp shooter set the single-season NCAA-era record for 3-pointers made this year, set the single-game mark for 3-pointers made with nine vs. Methodist (Jan. 10), set a D3-era mark for points scored with 35 vs. Methodist, and currently holds records for single-season 3-point percentage (44.1%), career 3-point percentage (41.6%), and career free-throw percentage (86.5%). Hester eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for her collegiate career between her time at both Brevard (708 points) and UVA-Wise (333 points).
In addition to her single-season record for 3-pointers made, Hester is BC WBB's NCAA-era career leader in 3-point percentage (41.4%) and free-throw percentage (86.3%). This season, Hester also set the single-season record for 3-point percentage, hitting shots from beyond the arc at a 45.1% clip.
Hester helped lead the Tornados to their most successful season in NCAA history, as Brevard reached the 20-win mark for the first time as a member of the NCAA, and first time overall since 2004-05. Brevard won an NCAA-era high 13 conference games while also setting new NCAA-era marks for wins at the Boshamer Gymnasium (11) and on the road (nine). BC WBB Head Coach
Donald Hudson also surpassed the 100-win mark for his collegiate coaching career.
