BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard College's
Tyrell Bailey and
Antonio King each received Indoor Track & Field weekly awards from the USA South Conference, as BC opened up its indoor season last weekend at the Tryon International Winter Classic in Tryon, N.C.
Bailey was selected as the Rookie Field Athlete of the Week, while King earned Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Bailey, a first-year Tornado from Greenville, S.C., competed in three events for BC at the weekend meet. In the high jump, Bailey had a best effort of 1.80 meters, in the long jump he leaped 6.41 meters, and in the triple jump, Bailey's top mark was 13.55 meters. A dual-sport athlete at BC, Bailey was competing in his first collegiate track & field meet.
King, a senior from Pamlico County, N.C., saw action in two events for Brevard at the season-opening meet. In the weight throw, King had a best effort of 15.00 meters while in the shot put, his top throw was 13.77 meters.
The Tornados are scheduled to return to action this Sunday at the JDL Banked is Better Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C.
