BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's tennis team fell to Pfeiffer on Thursday afternoon, 8-1, in non-conference action. The Tornados, who have played on consecutive days and will do that again this weekend, fall to 1-6 on the year. The Falcons improve to 7-1.

Jule Hermann picked up the only win for Brevard at No. 2 singles, defeating her opponent 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (11-9) in an exciting three-set, tie-breaking action. Katie Daugherty was defeated at No. 1 singles by Olivia Nelms, 6-0, 6-2, while Nirvanna Silva fell at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1.

Camille Cameron lost at No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-0 while the Tornados had to forfeit their matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.

The Falcons swept all three doubles matches as Nelms and Hannah Watson defeated the team of Daugherty and Hermann, 8-1, at No. 1 doubles. Silva and Cameron fell to Taylor Lindsay and Valeria Mendoza at No. 2 doubles, 8-2. Brevard had to forfeit the No. 3 doubles match.

Head coach Ed Dickson thought his team was still improving, despite the results. He believes that learning from the mistakes will help them improve.

"Every time we play a match we're supposed to learn something," Dickson explained. "We have another chance to prove Saturday that we are learning from our mistakes. We're getting better because it's our mistakes that are beating us, not the other teams. So we'll find out Saturday in two big matches for our teams."

The Tornados will return to South Atlantic Conference play when they host Mars Hill on Saturday. The matches are set to start at 2 p.m.
