HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Brevard College women's tennis team dropped its final match of the spring break trip to Ashland University, 4-2, on Thursday afternoon at Evian Park. The Tornados fall to 1-4 on the season while Ashland improves to 4-15.
Nirvana Silva won the only singles match at No. 3. She won the first set 6-3, before falling in the second set 6-0. She came back in the tie-breaker set to win 10-6. Katie Daugherty fell at No. 1 singles 7-5, 6-4 to Martina Baca.
Jule Hermann won her first set at No. 2 singles 6-4 and then lost the second set 6-5. The match went unfinished because of heavy rain. Anita Maryskova fell at No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-2 to Daniela Alves. Ashland won at No. 5 singles by default.
Daugherty and Hermann defeated Baca and Meghann Fitzpatrick in a close match at No. 1 doubles, 8-6 while Kendal Stephens and Sally Trout defeated Silva and Maryskova at No. 2 doubles 8-2.
The Tornados return to action on Wednesday in Wingate, North Carolina to face the Bulldogs. The matches are set to begin at 2 p.m. Click here for full results from today's match.
