CARY, N.C.- In a meeting between future USA South opponents, the Brevard College Tornados (3-7) dropped game one of a three game series to the William Peace Pacers 5-1 in Cary, N.C. on Saturday.

Brevard was led offensively by four different Tornados who tallied two hits apiece. Seniors Kyle Morrison (Greensboro, N.C.) and Brayden Morris (Pulaski, Va.) each recorded two hits in five plate appearances while freshmen Matt Lynch (Hartsville, S.C.) and Brian Kahn (Durham, N.C.) tacked on two hits of their own. On the afternoon, Brevard finished with 12 hits, outhitting William Peace 12-8.

Freshman Donny Carsillo (Waxhaw, N.C) drove home the lone Tornados run on a bunt in the sixth inning, bringing Lynch across the plate to score.

The Pacers set the pace for the opening game of the series by jumping out to a 5-0 lead after scoring three runs in the third and adding two more in the fourth to increase their lead.

The Tornados would not go down quietly as they added on a run in the sixth inning, cutting the deficit to just four runs.

Both bullpens would throw lights out as each team was held scoreless over the final three innings of play. The quartet of Brevard freshmen along with Drake Black (Williamston, N.C.) manned the ropes out of the bullpen.

Freshmen Kristofer Yarbrough (Monroe, N.C.) and Bryce Foster (Brevard, N.C.) continued their hot streaks on the mound out of the bullpen. Yarbrough threw 1 ? innings, allowing no runs and no hits while Foster struck out the side in his frame of work.

Kross Robinson (Morganton, N.C.) and Matt King (Hartsville, S.C.) both pitched an inning of scoreless relief, assisting the efforts of the Tornados. Fellow reliever Drake Black would retire the lone batter he faced in the contest.

Senior Tyler Konzen (Orlando, Fla.) made his third start of the season on the mound for the Tornados. Konzen would go three innings on the mound, allowing five runs on six hits while striking out three Pacers.

The Tornados return to the diamond for a doubleheader on Sunday against William Peace to close out the series with first pitch scheduled for 12:00pm.
