William Peace Holds Off Brevard

Box Score

RALEIGH, N.C.- After falling behind early, Brevard was able to come alive on offense in the eighth inning, but the rally came up just short in a 7-4 setback to William Peace on Friday evening.

Brevard (6-28) was not able to get much production on the offensive side of the plate for the first seven innings of play, as the Tornados could only put together three hits in that span and fell behind 5-0. However, the 'Nado bats came alive in the eighth as the team scored all four of their runs in that inning to cut the lead to one run.

Tyler Petit, Beau Shealy and Jadon Wooten recorded one RBI each, and the score was made 5-4 on Petit's sacrifice fly to left field to bring Shealy home from third.

William Peace (18-18) would respond in the bottom of the eighth, as Justin Torres was able tally a two-RBI base hit to make the score 7-4.

On the mound for the Tornados, senior Jake Christian got the starting nod in the game, as he completed six innings of work and tossed four strikeouts in the contest.

The two teams will meet tomorrow for a doubleheader in the final two games of the season for the Tornados and the Pacers. First pitch in game one is set to be thrown at 1 p.m.
