Box Score ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The Brevard College women's tennis team (2-4, 0-1 USAS) dropped its USA South Conference opener 9-0 to host N.C. Wesleyan (3-5, 2-0) on Saturday afternoon in Rocky Mount, N.C
The doubles action at the match proved to be competitive as BC won a total of nine games across the three sets. In number one doubles, Brevard's top team of Madison Bowman and
Hannah Hersh fell 8-3 to Cristina Mendoza Romero and Elisa Marriotti of NCWU. Number two doubles was the tightest of the three doubles matches as Bethan Fothergill and Andrea Elaez Miranda defeated BC's
Jordyn Bowen and
Sophie Trantham by the score of 8-4. Brevard's
Gracie Spangler and
Jada Ore fell 8-2 to Ajla Selimovic and Ivanna Torres in number three doubles.
N.C. Wesleyan went on to sweep singles play without losing a single set. Hersh (no.1),
Madison Bowen (no. 2),
Jordyn Bowen (no. 3), Trantham (no. 4), Ore (no. 5) and Spangler (no. 6) all competed in singles action for the Tornados.
Brevard returns to action with its home conference opener vs. William Peace on Saturday, March 23 at the McCoy Tennis Complex. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
