BUENA VISTA, Va. - For the second consecutive season, the Brevard College women's lacrosse team (8-8) has qualified for the USA South Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament.
 
The Tornados will take on four-seed Southern Virginia University (8-7) on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Buena Vista, Virginia.
 
Brevard appears as the five seed in the USA tourney for the second straight season after a 5-4 conference record. The Tornados and Knights previously met this season in Virginia, with SVU pulling away late for the 21-7 victory.
 
BC junior Emily Denaga currently ranks top-five in the USA South in goals (54) and goals-per-game (3.38), while Denaga and teammate Xan Hill are top-10 in the league in points and points-per-game. Additionally, Hill has dished out the sixth-most assists in the conference this year.
 
Defensively, BC midfielder Paige Kneubuhler is second in the conference in ground balls-per-game (4.33) and is third in total ground balls (65). Denaga ranks third in draw controls (92) and draw controls-per-game (5.75), while Kneubuhler is the USA South leader in caused turnovers with 44 total.
 
SVU's offense has been led by a pair of 50-goal scorers in Piper Searle (59 goals) and Kiah Baisden (53 goals), with each Knight totaling 65 points this season.
 
The winner of Tuesday's contest will advance to the Semifinals to take on the winner of the #1 Methodist/ #8 Greensboro matchup.
