WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Brevard College Men's and Women's Track & Field teams competed in their second meet of the 2024-25 season on Saturday at the Mondo College Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Several Tornados registered strong results in the event that featured several top teams from the region from all NCAA D1, D2 and D3.
Graduate
Channing Barker ran a 2:23.37 that gave her a fifth-place result in the meet as well as a nationally ranked time (43rd) for all of NCAA Division III in the Women's 800 meters. Barker, a native of Dunlap, Tennessee, then followed later in the day with a fourth-place finish in the Women's One Mile, registering a time of 5:30.43.
Owen Plucar, a junior from Plymouth, Minnesota, earned a third-place finish with a time of 2:08.65 in the 800 meters. Sophomore
Adin DeJesus ran a 2:15.60 in the 800 to place 11th.
Junior
Noah Westbrook continued his strong start to the 2024-25 season with a third-place finish in the Men's Shot Put after a throw of 13.64 meters. Freshman
Cameron Eubanks recorded a top-10 with a tenth-place finish in the same event, throwing 12.23 meters. Senior
Alfredo Sixtos also competed in shot put, placing 35th.
In the Men's Weight Throw, junior Henry Tarte recorded a mark of 12.86 meters, good for a ninth-place result. Tarte's teammate
Antonio King delivered as well in the weight throw with a 13th place effort of 12.28 meters.
Junior
Jaxsen Wilkerson placed eighth in the Men's Long Jump with a mark of 6.28 meters. BC freshman
Chris Mazo finished 34th in the long jump. Wilkerson ended the day in the Men's High Jump and Triple Jump to add to his performance. Wilkerson placed 12th in the triple jump with a mark of 12.74 meters and a 13th-place (1.77 meters) result in the high jump.
Senior
Haylea-Layne Miller finished in 13th place with a time of 3:53.90 in the Women's 1,000 meters. Miller also raced in the 400 meters where she placed 17th.
In the Women's Long Jump, junior
Imani Singleton finished in 23rd place with a jump of 4.61 meters, while freshman
Elizabeth Foster finished 37th.
In the Women's 200 meters seeded competition, freshman
Sarah Bare ran a 27.75 to earn a 10th-place finish. Singleton also ran in the 200 meters, placing 41st.
Other results included junior
Seth Robinson finishing 36th in the Men's 400 meters, freshman Kinsley Burris-Whiteside finishing 41st in the Women's Shot Put and sophomore
Shea Granger placing 43rd in the Men's 3000 meters.
The Tornados will continue their indoor season with the Bast-Cregger Multi Invitational, set for January 31 – February 1 in Salem, Virginia.
