BREVARD, N.C. - After an emotional 3-1 loss against No. 8 Wingate on Friday night, Brevard fell in a sweep at the hands of visiting Coker on Saturday morning.

The Cobras (4-17, 1-13 SAC) capitalized on a Brevard team that came out flat in the early going to snap a 15-match losing streak and earn their first win of the season in conference play. The Cobras .248 for the match, including a blistering .393 with just one error in a dominant 25-15 first-set victory.

The Cobras were led by Megan Hardy and Brooke Closset, who had 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Hardy also chipped in a pair of blocks, while Celia Duggan led the Cobras with three stuffs.

Although the second two sets were competitive, with Coker winning by counts of 25-22 and 25-21, the Cobras never trailed and only allowed Brevard to tie the score twice, with the last occurrence taking place in a 5-5 deadlock in the first set.

Erin Barr had a career-high 10 kills for the Tornados, finishing three digs shy of a triple-double. She dished out 22 assists on the day and hit at a .421 clip. Whitney DeMoss also had a solid day, collecting eight kills and hitting .316 with only two errors.

After Coker's dominating performance in the first set, Brevard fought back to within a point late in the second set, trimming a Cobras lead that had been as large as six points to 23-22. But at attack error and a Closset kill ended the set and gave Coker a 2-0 lead in the match. Brevard also closed to within three points late in the third set, but Coker closed out the match on a kill to spark a massive celebration as the team earned its first win since September 10.

Kristen Teat earned her first win as a head coach after taking over the program on Wednesday.

The Tornados return to action on Tuesday night with a 7:00 p.m. match at Anderson.
