ROCK HILL, S.C. - Sophomore setter Erin Barr has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Specialist of the Week after a series of outstanding performances for the Tornados against Coker and Wingate.

The Hamptonville, North Carolina native started her week with a career-high 51 assists in Brevard's four-set win over Coker on Friday night. She topped her previous career high of 50 that she set one week prior in a five-set match at Lincoln Memorial, coming within five helpers of equaling Brevard's NCAA-era record.

Barr aided the Tornados' offense in accumulating at least 15 kills in all four sets and catalyzed the team's second-most efficient offensive day of the season with a .200 hitting percentage. She also played a significant defensive role, chipping in 11 digs and a pair of blocks.

She continued her standout performances in Saturday's loss 3-1 loss to No. 23 Wingate. She had a match-high 35 assists and recorded her fourth double-double in the last five matches with 11 digs. Barr also added a block and a kill, giving her four terminations on the week, while finishing with 86 assists, 10.75 assists per set, and 22 digs in the two matches.

Barr now has 1,182 assists in her Brevard career, placing her third in the record books since the Tornados attained full NCAA membership in 2008. She is on pace to finish the season with nearly 1,900 career assists, positioning her within easy striking distance of Bethany Stevenson's NCAA-era record of 2,085. She is currently Brevard's career leader with 8.76 assists per set, and her 9.27 assists per set in 2015 are second in the school's single-season rankings.

This is Barr's first career SAC Specialist of the Week Award. Brevard has now accounted for two of the last four Specialists of the Week after libero Aleksandra Vrvilo shared the honors with Wingate setter Alison Cooke during the final week of the 2014 season.

Barr and the Tornados are back in action tonight in Hickory, North Carolina to face SAC foe Lenoir-Rhyne. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
